A detailed account of the Amritsar district in 1914 by the British administrators. This gazette chronicles the history, the Jatt communities, agricultural output of each tehsil, land revenue, army recruitment and the enconomic health of the district. Based on my study, Amritsar seems to be the wealthiest district in the Punjab Province around this time and played a major part in national as well as international trade.
With the exception of Gurdaspur, Amritsar is the most northern of the five districts, which formed the Lahore Division.
