In her book "Home, Uprooted: Oral Histories of India's Partition", author Devika Chawla writes about the apparent contradictions she has noted in the personal stories of family members who migrated from West Punjab. In some cases the stories talk about the positive aspects of Hindu and Muslim relationships, and in other parts, the stories highlight the violence and suspicion that existed among Hindus and Muslims.
